Gardens as habitat for wildlife

There's still no sign of the elusive hedgehogs. I have no idea whether they're still in our garden or not. Hedgehogs can travel up to 2 miles in one night so probably they're not but I hope they visit us from time-to-time. I continue to put food out for them along with the wildlife camera… Continue reading Gardens as habitat for wildlife

Scottish wildcat

Today we think we saw a Scottish wildcat. This is another very elusive creature whose population has been decimated over the past couple of hundred years. It is critically endangered and although it once roamed all of the UK it is now found only in northern and eastern Scotland. If it is a Scottish wildcat… Continue reading Scottish wildcat

Blackberry crumble

Wild blackberries are ripe for the picking all over the place right now. Locally they're known as brambles. Ben went for a walk yesterday along the river and came home with several cups of them. I turned them into blackberry crumble. This crumble was particularly delicious because I did something different. Crumble is just fruit… Continue reading Blackberry crumble

Here's a little video of her having her fur brushed which she loves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vTnQV3BgbU It has been more than a week since I posted anything which is unusual for me. Things are looking up… Continue reading Happy birthday to Victoria, open again, and a successful competition

What I love about cycling is I can park right outside just a couple of metres from the door. You can't do this with a car as there's no on-street parking in this part of… Continue reading Shopping by bike and cat photos

In the paper, cat news, a kilt in a cargo bike, Foodstory, and zombies

I'm in The Scottish Daily Record today in an article about the state of cycling in Scotland. This is in response to the tragic death of a young woman in Edinburgh this week. It's a good article that got a full double page spread and my photo spans from top to bottom of the paper!… Continue reading In the paper, cat news, a kilt in a cargo bike, Foodstory, and zombies

Not a kitten any more, cycling lessons, and in the paper

Victoria sleeps in our bed most nights now and I mean literally in our bed. She buries herself under the covers head and all. I don't know how she can stand it. It must get terribly hot. I think she probably alternates and spends some of the time on the bed and some of the… Continue reading Not a kitten any more, cycling lessons, and in the paper
