It’s Victoria’s 1st birthday today. At least we think it is. She was born on or around the 26th April 2020.

Here’s a little video of her having her fur brushed which she loves.
It has been more than a week since I posted anything which is unusual for me. Things are looking up for us today with the opening of restaurants, bars, and holiday accommodation. It has been sad walking down Union Street in the city centre over the past few months with so many boarded-up shops and for sale/lease signs everywhere indicating businesses that have closed down completely.
Today was raining and miserable but the city centre was suddenly a hive of activity with people out walking, going into shops, sitting in restaurants. We were able to go inside my favourite place for the first time since December.

There was a huge queue outside Primark, despite the rain.

Restaurants and bars were allowed to admit people for the first time since December. The climate here doesn’t really lend itself to outdoor eating of the kind you’d see in southern Europe so instead they’ve built these gazebos.

On an other note the “no idling” competition we ran was a great success with over 50 terrific entries. We printed four banners and gave them to schools in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. We also made one for ourselves for free loan to schools that don’t have one. Here’s Daniel and Elizabeth showing it off. The winning entries can be seen on the Aberdeen Cycle Forum website.

Happy Birthday Victoria! We were just talking about how old our oldest cat might be last night – and I was kind of surprised to figure out he’s at least 10 now. I know that’s probably middle aged for big old farm cat like him, but still… eek.
You’ve got three cats – is that right? Or is it two? How do they get along? Victoria doesn’t like the other cats she sees in the neighbourhood. She’s terrified of them.
That first taste of freedom after lockdown is so delicious π
It is indeed π
