I do love the snow. We had another snowy day today and Aberdeen is looking beautiful. We made the most of it and went sledging. There’s rain forecast for Sunday so it looks like it may disappear soon unfortunately.
I got a video of a starling at the bird feeder this morning when it was snowing.
I’m glad you got some snow and sledging out of this winter. I wish I had birds in the winter but they only seem to come up very rarely in the summer months.
Are there no birds at all near you in winter? Not even pigeons?
Actually that’s a good point, I have pigeons, seagulls and corvids and I do enjoy seeing their lively ways. I only feel ambivalent because I think they scare off the smaller birds. I have just read Grey Bees by Andrev Kurkov and I thought how much more vivid Kurkov’s descriptions of political situations are because his protagonists have close relationships with animals, so this has made me appreciate the presence of any other animal more.
That looks like a good book. Did you enjoy it? I have pigeons, gulls and corvids too but still lots of little birds. The little birds like hedges to hide in so if there are no hedges near you then you’ll be less likely to see them. You can also get caged feeders that keep the larger birds out. I have a couple of them for the smaller birds.
