It’s 4C and I’m hot

I love our Saturday bike rides to Highland Dance for Elizabeth followed by lunch at Newton Dee. My bike told me it was 4C:

But I got hot from the exercise.

I feel so happy after a bike ride. We’re so lucky to live somewhere we can cycle all year round. I love feeling the cold crisp air on my cheeks. This is one of my favourite times of the year with Christmas approaching, the days getting shorter, and winter starting to settle in.

I haven’t taken a photo of the view from the cycle path recently. Here’s the view today and it’s beautiful as always:

I love that we only have to cycle for about 4 or 5 miles and it feels like we’re out in the country.

Just after the Newton Dee turnoff the path was flooded. You can see in the distance it’s completely covered in water and I’m not sure how long for.

The nice thing about a bike is that you can cycle through that without getting your feet wet.

Earlier this week Elizabeth sat in the bike taking photos of herself pulling faces. I’ll save this one for her 21st birthday. There were about 20 different versions of this photo on my phone.

It’s raining in the South! And windy. No cycling for me today. Looks lovely where you are.

Yes, we’re having a great weekend with the weather here but the past week was very rainy and windy here too.

In Finland, people bike thru the year. No matter if it cold.

    Have a wonderful day!

That’s so great! I love those photos. I think it’s easier to cycle all year round in cold climates than in hot climates. In hot climates it’s just too hot.

Nice to see you’ve still got a place to ride.
While the first snowfall is gone, I am sure the next one is not too far away.

Do you still ride in the snow?

      1. Anthony Avatar

I don’t ride in the snow. I wish I were more adventurous, but the grit and salt on the road would make for some very bad road rash.

Love this post – just captures the joy of year round cycling. So many people think you can only cycle in summer, but I find that just being able to get out and get some fresh air and (sometimes) sunshine this time of year really improves my happiness levels. Looking forward to reading more of your cycling adventures in 2019. Have a great Christmas Karen

Thanks, Karen! It’s all so true. I love getting outside for fresh air also, especially in winter. It really warms the spirits.
