Selfie of four of us

First year of university done

Daniel has finished his first year of University. We drove to St Andrews today to help him pack up his things and cart them all back home. We had a full car load! I believe overseas students have to pay to put their belongings in storage over the summer.

Daniel took us on a lovely little walk near his halls called the Lade Braes.

It was oppressively hot today much to my and Elizabeth’s dismay but this walk was by a stream with lots of trees which made it cooler.

Daniel has loved every minute of living and studying in St Andrews. He’s made lots of friends and is a bit sad that he now has to say goodbye to them all but it’s only until September when everyone returns for second year.

He’s returning to halls again next year which is what he wanted. Some students find private accommodation and Daniel might try that at some point but for now he prefers the social life of halls. It’s probably cheaper too as real estate is very expensive in St Andrews. I spotted this inner city townhouse (where the red sign is) for sale on our wanderings and out of curiosity looked it up when I got home: it’s offers over £1.2 million.

A row of townhouses.
