Me jumping in the snow

New Year’s Day is a winter wonderland

New Year’s Day was a magical winter wonderland in Scotland with snow all over the country including in Braemar where we’ve been holidaying.

Dad in the forest with snow everywhere.

We booked lunch at the Flying Stag then did some sledging in the afternoon.

All of us at lunch.

I showed the visitors the wall of death at the Fife Arms. Obviously I prefer my crocheted animal heads for ethical reasons but I can appreciate antique taxidermy which is what this is. It’s like a zoology museum of the past.

There are some great hills for sledging including this one with lots of turns. Daniel is a pro at the turns.

Me not so much and for some reason I always end up backwards.

There’ll be more sledging today.

    Happy New Year!

We’ve never been sledging, as we lived in a flat area when it used to snow in the south. It’s such a lovely aspect of living in Scotland to have colder weather. It looks a very exciting/cosy setting.

I hope you get to go sledging one day. It’s a fun and free activity and also pretty good exercise as you have to keep walking up the hill if you want to come down again.
