We woke up to a winter wonderland today. I immediately went out for a run in the snow, stopping many times to take photos.

After breakfast we went for a hill walk in Finzean up to Tom’s Cairn. We haven’t done this walk before and I was a bit hesitant about an unknown hill walk in the snow but it turned out perfectly. You can park right beside the start of the walk next to the Finzean standing stones on the B976.

The first part of the walk is up a steep forested hill then after that it’s a relatively easy walk along the ridge with glorious views in all directions.

I’m not sure why it’s called Tom’s Cairn or who Tom is and the locals I asked didn’t know either.

On the way back the weather turned and it started snowing. Visibility got quite poor but I think much of the problem with this next photo is Ben’s camera got all fogged up and he didn’t wipe it first.

I got a photo of Ben looking miserable in the snow as per our annual tradition.

Afterwards we had lunch at the Finzean farm shop and café.

Mostly I wanted to go back to the Finzean farm shop because last week when we were there I spotted a silkie print that took my fancy so we went back for it. Ben had silkies when he was a boy. They’re so cute. I want to keep some at pets now.
