Art on Deeside Way

Street art, yule logs, and Christmas puddings

This week the local artist behind KMG painted the other wall on Deeside Way beneath Great Southern Road. She did the opposite wall for us a couple of years ago in 2022. I have always thought it would be nice to continue the theme along both sides of the path so this year we applied for funding from Sustrans and were successful. Painting began on Monday and finished today.

The artist painting the wall blue.
Panoramic shot of the art with a surfer skateboarding, a dog and runner, two people on a cargo bike and an elderly person on a recumbant.

The surfer is a nod to Aberdeen’s beach while the recumbent shows an elderly cyclist highlighting the accessibility of the railway line; the cargo bike with vegetables and fruit trees recognises the nearby community garden while the black dog is a local dog that was rescued from Romania.

Another shot of the art.
A close-up of the recumbant.

I’m still feeling rotten but I think I’m on the way out as my nose is running like a faucet now. The others are all better so I think we’ll be back to normal by Christmas. I’ve spent a fair bit of the day in bed with Victoria keeping me company. Now she’s spending some quality time with Shakespeare.

Elizabeth made a yule log today and it looks amazing.

Elizabeth holding her yule log which is covered and chocolate and has a creamy centre.

Last weekend we bought a Christmas pudding form Newton Dee. I’m more interested in the ceramic basin and cloth it comes with as that makes a good container for sourdough starter.

The Tiptree red Christmas pudding box.

I removed the lid today to check it out and look what it says on the inside:

It reads "This pudding has been hand finished and packed by Elizabeth"

Your house looks so cosy. It looks so warm and full of lovely positiveness. At least you have a comforting space if you have to be ill. It’s nice to paint under the bridge – those spaces can look lonely and threatening and it’s good to claim it back.

Thanks. It is a cosy home. I could do with decluttering a bit though haha.
