Another weekend disappears. Daniel told me last week that he didn’t want to go anywhere for the next couple of weekends as he’s studying for exams. He’s so studious but then I was the same. He’s taller than me now by nearly 2cm. We measured today. That happened very quickly. He’s shooting up at a great pace.
Elizabeth went to a friend’s birthday party today and this friend is a fan of Little Shop of Horrors so for a present I crocheted her an Audrey 2. Happy birthday, Dione!

We put up our Christmas tree yesterday. Cold weather is finally coming later in the week and maybe even some snow if we’re lucky. It’s beginning to feel a bit like Christmas.

Fabulous Audrey – I want one – lol! A couple of your previous Christmas blogs came up under this one as relevant (WordPress does that), and it was amazing to see Elizabeth from 2014. This blog of yours is such a timepiece 🙂
Thanks. It was to make and pretty easy so there’s no reason why you couldn’t give it a try. I got the pattern online.
And yes, I love having the history of all the things we’ve done over more than 10 years now – it was 2011 when I wrote the first post. Blogs are the best. Everyone should have one.
My life has become all political now – i.e. I am a full-on terf 🙂 – but it’s not what I want to turn my WordPress blog into. I need that to be a space where I write about other things, but my terfery has become very consuming and taking up my writing time. However, I feel that it’s very important to resist this current trend of eroding women’s and girls’ safeties and rights, and have started a Substack for my political writing with a mostly NZ focus. https://aboldwoman.substack.com/ . I’ll look for the crochet pattern online – maybe I’ll even make it 🙂
That’s great stuff. Good for you and thank you for standing up for women and girls. The world has gone mad and I don’t think people really understand what’s going on. That said, I think things are starting to change although not in the Scottish government unfortunately which seems hell-bent on housing rapists in women’s prisons. I just can’t understand what they’re thinking there.
This is the pattern I used for Audrey 2 but it’s not the only one. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/868857759/crochet-audrey-2-man-eating-plant-photo
Yeah – the western world seems to have gone willfully blind, including a woeful number of women! Thanks for the pattern 🙂
My tree is up too – I would never go back to having a real tree, it is such a hassle.
I hope Daniel does well in his exams. He is such a wonderfully well brought up boy.
I have a new hamster called Marge. I went to the Isle of Wight for her, which I never would have done without knowing all I do about hamsters from your blog. She is a Russian dwarf, the type with the stripe down the back. She is definitely the nocturnal type – night time is when we hear the wheel whizzing away. It was really nice to be able to take one of the animals off the RSPCA’s hands.
That’s such great news about Marge. I’m so happy to hear it. She’ll be so much happier with you. Which cage did you get? If the wheel keeps you up at night there’s is a brand called Silent Runner. They’re not cheap but they’re silent and really good quality. They’re made in the US. I’d love to see pics of your hamster. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285014885776?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=xfFr6gcASBS&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=TtUYgz7YREm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
