New hairdos

You never know these days when there’ll be another lockdown and all the hair salons will close. With this in mind I decided to take drastic measures and have several hair cuts all in one go today just in case the salons have to shut again for several months. I think I lost a couple of kilograms just in hair. Here’s the new hairdo:

This should keep me going for 6 months at least.

The cat’s hair is starting to regrow after her surgery. Here she is getting ready for a Zoom meeting.

I think she has fully recovered. Her wound did start to get a bit infected and she had to have antibiotics but she’s fully back to her normal self now. I do worry about the day in the future when antibiotics will no longer be effective.

We had a bit of snow on Thursday which was lovely. It didn’t last long and didn’t settle but hopefully it’s the first of many snow flurries this winter.

I’m loving the hair! I had a bit of a disaster cut a few weeks ago and am hoping that it won’t be too long before it’s more at your length! Great job! Katir

Oh no! What happened? Did you cut it yourself or was it a proper hairdresser.

Well, a bit of both! I decided a fringe was a good idea so got out the kitchen scissors. It wasn’t a good idea at all. So I went to the hairdressers, a new one because they’re all so desperately expensive out here in Manhattan, and I’ve come out looking worse than before. I’m just going to have to grow it out and then stop being so mean and actually spend some money on my hair, which let’s face it, IS quite important! Totally serves me right! I need to find a decent hairdresser and then stick with them, and also accept that if I’m not prepared to spend time on my hair (rather than just leaving it wet after a shower!) it’s never going to look as good as the magazines!! Anyway, yours looks great! Well done and hats off to you if you’ll excuse the rather pathetic pun! Katie

Finding a good hairdresser is hard. I’ve had some shocking cuts over the years. My hairdresser now though is brilliant and I trusted him to do a good job. I’m sure it won’t take long to grow out. Good luck finding a new hairdresser.

Thanks so much! The good news is that I use clips and bit and bobs to sort of lift up the dodgy bits! I guess we’re lucky in a way with all these things (and makeup) so that when it goes horribly wrong we have options! Katie

I bet it’s not as bad as you think. We’re our own worst critics.

You’re right there … the things that we don’t like about ourselves, others don’t even notice!!

Wow – great new ‘do’. It certainly gives you a different look – more sophisticated, I think 🙂 Hopefully, that doesn’t lead to “what did I look like before” questions – lol! For the record, I think you looked great before, too.

Thanks, Katrina! It probably won’t look so good after I wash it. I can never get it to look as good as the hairdresser but that could be because I tend to spend less time styling it 🙂

We are in lockdown, so our ‘non-essential’ shops are closed. No barber for me! Yours looks pretty neat, a bit 40s I thought.

Thanks, Colin. I’m very happy to hear you say it looks a bit 40s beause I was nearly going to ask the hairdresser for a Grace Kelly cut but I thought I might have problems maintaining it. She would have had a personal stylist to do it for her.

Once I thought I wanted to be a person who had short hair, and had it cut shoulder length, but then I realised it was far too much hassle. It’s nice to have a change though. I guess with less weight, that makes it so much curlier. It looks uplifting!.

I know what you mean. People think long hair is harder to manage but it is easier in many ways. If you have a bad hair day you can just tie it back. And you don’t have the same mess when you wake up in the morning that happens with short hair.
