More snow in Aberdeen

Most of the snow melted yesterday but then it snowed again overnight so there are beautiful scenes outside again today.

I wish we had more days like this each winter but I guess Aberdeen is too close to the sea and the mercury mostly hovers above 0ยฐC over the winter. Still, I really love the climate here. One perk is that water comes out of the tap cold. I love that. It’s a pain having to fill up jugs of water and put them in the fridge becauseย cold water tastes way better than warm water … except when it’s in tea of course ๐Ÿ™‚

That much snow I could handle and enjoy. What we have right now and the -15โ„ƒ feels like -24โ„ƒ is not my ideal.

I’ve never experienced cold that cold. It hasn’t gone below -4C since we moved here and that was just overnight when we were all tucked up in bed.

Wait till it gets to -20ยฐC, but it’s usually still when it gets that low.

Does it ever get that cold here? I think we’re too close to the sea for that. Maybe inland from here but not in the city itself. I could be wrong though ๐Ÿ™‚

If we get a cold still period the cold ai sinks down from the mountains, the coldest I’ve known it was under -25ยฐC.

Wikipedia says the record low for Aberdeen is -19โ€ฏยฐC: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aberdeen#Climate

Wow. Beautiful. Enjoy while it lasts ๐Ÿ™‚

I think few weeks of months of this kind of snow is better than nothing or too much of snow. That way you get to experience every season.

Nice! Were you out on the bike or skiing?

      1. fossilcyclist Avatar

        Skiing, could we for miles.

That’s perfect snow – you want it to melt away each night and then reappear so it doesn’t get dirty or icy.

Yes, that would be nice! It’s mostly gone now and I don’t think we’ll be getting any more tonight.
