Elizabeth holding her trophies

Elizabeth the performer

Elizabeth has had a hugely busy couple of weeks. Last week she performed in the Leading Lights production of Sister Act at the Arts Centre. She auditioned earlier in the year and although she didn’t get a main part she still had an important role in the chorus as one of the nuns. She loved it and is planning to participate in next year’s musical.

We went to see the show twice and it was excellent! Such a fun musical.

Then last weekend and this weekend she had two highland dance competitions. She’s been having lots of little successes with highland lately and yesterday came home with two trophies: one for 2nd overall and another for 1st in the trophy fling. After the competition she volunteered to hold a donation bucket for Mental Health Aberdeen at His Majesty’s Theatre for Heathers the Musical (she got free tickets to the musical so there was a bit of self-interest there). We had to dash from the competition to town so I didn’t manage to get a photo of her with her trophies until afterwards when she was no longer wearing her highland dance stuff. She was very happy with her performance and has now levelled up to intermediate.

Then today she had a highland dance exam which included first exams for the jig and the hornpipe. She looked very smart in the hornpipe outfit.

Well done, Elizabeth.

Well done, Elizabeth! I had a wee laugh, though, when you wrote the “trophy fling”, as I had an immediate vision of Elizabeth flinging a trophy, before I realised you were referring to a dance when you wrote ‘fling’. At least, I think you were ๐Ÿ™‚

haha I can see that it sounds like that but you’re right, it’s a dance called “The Fling”.

It’s really great that there are organisations around giving young people the chance to perform in something really fantastic. It is amazing all the routines and lyrics that people have to perfect. And it’s lovely that she is so positive and happy to take part in things.

It is a great organisation, the one that runs the musical theatre. I’m so pleased we’ve found it. It’s run by volunteers and they put on a really professional show.
