It has been about 2.5 months since we were woken in the middle of the night to discover a fire in our laundry and I’m thrilled to say we now have a new laundry thanks to our insurance. It’s the first time we’ve made an insurance claim and I am very impressed by how much they’ve done. It’s a like-for-like replacement but in reality this is impossible when the original is 30+ years old.
I don’t have any undamaged photos of the original laundry but here’s how it looked the morning after the fire.

You might remember I posted a photo two months ago of our smoke-damaged towels.
One of my lovely sisters bought us some new towels and here’s the new towel cupboard. I will try to keep them neatly folded.
I’m pleased to say the new laundry has a smoke alarm.
