I have a sunflower at last! One of the flowers opened up in the rain today. It was one of the smaller, sickly-looking plants so I was not expecting to get a flower out of it at all but here it is with a bee hard at work. It’s lovely.
We also picked our first cucumber today. I’ve never grown cucumbers before but it was surprisingly easy. I couldn’t think of how to take a selfie with this cucumber without people getting the wrong idea – maybe it’s just me but cucumbers look like giant penises. So I added a spoon to the photo instead.
And then we chopped it up and ate it!
Congratulations on your sunflower. I bet that cucumber tasted good. Did it have a stronger flavour than a shop cucumber?
Do they all look like penises? There’s something about the curve on that one that makes it so. I am just imagining a plant full of them.
It did taste good and more flavoursome than a shop-bought one but I might be biased.
This one does look particularly phallic. Perhaps I am growing a new variety of phallic cucumbers 🙂
Sunflowers AND a cucumber on the same day! Seeing your cucumber just reminded me have one at the allotment that’s probably ready to pick now — haven’t been down to water in a few days, oops.
I know! It’s like all my Christmases have come at once.
Oh, well done for the sunflower! As for your cucumber… er… did you have to cuircumcise it? 😉
Nope. This cucumber was not circumcised 🙂
You can’t keep a good sunflower down! 🙂
I’ve never grown them before and I only grew these because Elizabeth wanted to but I’m enjoying it more than she is now.
haha Sounds familiar! 🙂
Well done !!
Thanks!
