It’s a beautiful day in Aberdeen today. I had to run some errands in town this morning and I took these photos of the very gorgeous Marischal College. It’s the second largest granite building in the world, and is owned by the University of Aberdeen and leased to the city council.
Apparently much of the UK has been hit with some bad weather but not here. It has been fine today and yesterday with no rain and a gentle sea breeze. Ben has been in York where he says the weather has been wild.
Iย dropped into a Pret a Manger at one point to relax and discovered they’ve got a wonderful almond shake which is suitable for vegans. I tried it and it was delicious. The ingredients are water, banana puree, almonds, cashew butter, coconut nectar, tahini, date puree, and vanilla powder. The cafe was packed with people including oneย woman breastfeeding her baby. No-one batted an eyelid or seemed remotely concerned with what she was doing, which is just as it should be. My faith in humanity has been restored.
What a beautiful building…and so glad to read the ending too ๐
Yes, Marischal College is a magnificent building. How lucky is the city council to get to use that?
Wow.. it is definitely a gorgeous place. And gorgeous clicks too ๐
It is gorgeous. Magnificent old buildings like this give me a lot of pleasure. It’s free entertainment just to look at them.
Indeed. I love this kind of architecture too. But we don’t have so much of this type here. But still a few places have the Victorian architecture ๐ I am sure in UK you can find it everywhere ๐
Yes, the UK has lots of gorgeous architecture.
haha glad to hear that ๐ And I really love the architecture ๐
This building is probably my favourite in Aberdeen. Or one of my favourites anyway.
So many to choose from in UK. Ely cathedral is pretty cool too ๐
The photographs are very good, nicely crisp and good angles. It is certainly is an extraordinary building.
I wonder if we will we ever hear the last of breastfeeding ? ๐
You’ll probably never hear the end of it, sorry!
No problem. ๐
What a majestic structure it is!
Do you click with phone camera?
Yep! With my iPhone 4s which is almost a dinosaur these days.
4s is a dinosaur but the photos are impressive!
Thanks!
Magnificent! It all looks so wonderfully deserted too. What time was it Rachel?
It was about 9:30am. It’s not really on a main thoroughfare for pedestrians though and I guess everyone had mostly started work by that time.
The peacefulness of the scene makes it look much earlier.
Aberdeen is also quite small so it’s never going to look as busy as somewhere like Sydney. There are only about 200,000 people here.
Very warm and lovely looking building. It’s nice to have a good looking town hall, the one in Lewes is a 60s concrete block.
Wonderful!
Thanks!
