Plants that are longer than they are wide

In the interests of promoting gender equality in blogs, I thought I’d dedicate a blog post to plants that are longer than they are wide. I took these photos last weekend at the Duthie Park Winter Gardens:

Any suggestions for this one?

Morning Glory? (Btw – Melanie may have a number for a good psychotherapist!). I am really worried by your selection. How about some spikeless veggies!

I couldn’t find the vegetable garden at Duthie Park. I don’t think they have one.

Morning Glory is great. Good suggestion ๐Ÿ™‚

    I was a poet, but didn’t know it ….

    No Satisfaction
    ——————–

I can’t get you outta my mind
    No, not Kylie, but Melanie
    And her phallic symbols
    Longer than their wide

    Succulents large and small
    Frostbitten and morning glorious
    In cold dark Aberdeen
    Prickly amongst the stones

    Can’t get no satisfaction

Very nice but a little pessimistic. Satisfaction comes in all shapes and sizes.

You are hysterical! This gave me a good laugh!

    1. Rachel M Avatar

I’m very happy to hear it. There’s nothing I like more than knowing I’ve made someone laugh.

    Definitely preventing STI’s…ribbed!

Fine upstanding specimens mostly…one could do with some Sildenafil- although there is some reduction in erection angle with age apparently.

Yes, I know the one you mean. He’s just getting started.

I have absolutely no idea of a suitable caption for that last one. I love cacti, though. Fascinating plant. I imagine the ones in Duthie Gardens are in hot houses, right?

    1. Rachel M Avatar

Yes, these are all in the winter gardens which is a huge glasshouse. I’ve read that it’s Europe’s largest indoor plant collection.

A thing is longer than it’s wide because the longest length is it’s length and the the length that is shorter than it’s longest length is it’s width unless it’s is depth or height. Sometimes it’s height or depth is it’s longest length but then that must really be it’s length. So you see what I mean. ๐Ÿ˜›

I’ll take your word on this one, Graham.

the one covered in cobwebby stuff reminds me of something in my fridge – I should probably go and check the sell-by date

    1. Rachel M Avatar

My fridge has similar specimens from time to time.
