I’ve got Busby back!!

Busby finally arrived today. He’s been at theย hospital (= bike shop) in York having some work done. We took him out for a spin. I felt very wobbly at first as the longer frame takes some getting used to and I haven’t ridden him for 10 months now. But after about 15 minutes or soย I felt reasonably confident again.

Aberdeen isn’t anywhere near as good for cycling as York but York was quite special in this regard. Aberdeen also has some hills and Busby doesn’t do hills. But maybe once I’ve built up theย strength in my legs again I’ll be able to tackle some of the smaller ones.

Looks fine. I’ve heard of homing pigeons but a homing bike is new. It’s Halloween aaaargh.

You have the best gifs, Graham ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you. Although I don’t think it’s as good as a bike with a cockpit on the front. ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. I thought you might like this one.

That’s fantastic! I’m going to use that one.

This is such a special post! I remember your dilemma when you first had to face losing Busby. What a lot has happened since then.

It is special and I was so excited to have him back and to go riding again. I forgot how much fun it is.

That is one amazing bike, and such a good idea. I can see you having strong leg muscles in no time! ๐Ÿ™‚

      That’s the plan!

Well, that’s great news, though I think it should have turned into an epic bike ride from York to Aberdeen….. Guess you’ll have to ride it from Aberdeen to York instead!

How cool is that? You’re riding a Dutch bakfiets! No Dutch family lives without one. Cheers!

      1. Rachel M Avatar

It is a Dutch bakfiets – the best bikes in the world – and I’ve heard how popular they are in Holland. One day I’ll have to go and see for myself.

Yes, you have to! Let me know whenever you come here. You’ll be amazed to see that there are bikes even for funerals.

I wish you could have come up with Busby! It would have been great to see you and to hear about the adventurous ride. I’m not sure that I’m up for cycling all the way to York but we could come down on the train and bring it with us ๐Ÿ™‚

Yay for Busby ๐Ÿ™‚ I remember when you had to say goodbye to him not thinking that you would be returning in 10 months to the UK! Life is full of surprises isn’t it ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Yes, life is unravelling beautifully.

Such a better view for the kids than riding behind the parents. And you can see them. I’ve never seen this design before.

    1. Rachel M Avatar

I agree! They’re a dream to ride too and very stable and well made.

I’ve never seen anything like that! It’s fantastic!

Thank you! It’s so much fun to ride and you command the road when you ride a bakfiets.

you need to train the kids up so theycan pedal and you can sit in the dry

Exactly. My son should really be riding his own bike and I told him this today as I struggled up a 1° slope ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so glad you got Busby back. Your daughter gets a cool ride in a coach that could easily become a pumpkin coach for Halloween. [HINT] Ride on!

    1. Rachel M Avatar

Yes, my kids love Busby and sometimes they’ll ask to go out for a ride. It’s quite warm under the cover too, it acts like a greenhouse.

Daniel does sit inside the bike too but he’s not in this photo as he took the pic!
