WordCamp Auckland 2014

I’m giving a talk at Auckland WordCamp later this month. Matt Mullenweg volunteered me for this when he was in Auckland recently. We were talking with the Auckland WordPress group and they expressed interest in having someone talk to them about Jetpack. So Matt said I would do it. To which I replied, “Yes, of course. I’d be very happy to do that”, or words to this effect. Then I got home later that night and said “Crap, crap, crap”. Matt Mullenweg is not someone you say no to.

But now that I’ve had a chance to think about it and do some planning, I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not giving a Jetpack talk either, which is a bit of a relief. Instead I’m first up for the day with the introduction, a bit about Automattic and my role with the company, and what’s coming up in WordPress 4.0.

If any of my Auckland readers are interested in coming along, then it’s on Saturday 26th July, at AUT in Auckland’s CBD. Tickets are $25 and available here.

Thanks, Simplysaru. How are you doing? I’ve been wondering how you’re getting on. Did you take an enforced break?

I am getting back to normal. Will have to get back to office in a week. My efforts weren’t enough, so my trial was discontinued.

I’m sorry to hear that. I didn’t know. I thought you might have been recovering from your injuries. I’m glad to hear you’re almost back to normal. You should give it another go if it’s something you really want.

Good for you Rachel! I’m sure it will be a great intro – Matt must have great confidence in you.

I have had many of those ‘crap, crap, crap’ moments in my life and usually they turned out to be the best moments… Good luck with that.

Thanks, AV. I know what you mean about crap, crap, crap moments. I hope this will be one of those. I’ll no doubt let you all know how it goes.

I’d die if I had to give a presentation. But having seen the little intro video you posted about yourself when you started working at Automattic, I’m sure you are a natural.

What an honour to be asked!! Well done, you!
