A new year: 2014

Elizabeth had a great birthday party yesterday. It was fun for the adults too and not without a few mishaps. At one point, Daniel vomited on the coat of one of our guests. I think he ate too much. Then a four-year-old in attendance was very taken with Ben’s costume and began requesting bits of it piece by piece. I ate far too many sweets and ended up feeling very sick.

Completely by fluke, Elizabeth received Merida’s wig as a gift so her costume was complete and worn the entire afternoon and evening. We gave her a long bow which she spent a great deal of time trying to master. Here she is:

So what’s in store for 2014? I’m not entirely sure. We will be returning to Auckland at the end of this month which I’m very sad about but it can’t be avoided. On the way back, we will visit the place of my birth for a few days: Thailand. I haven’t been there since we left when I was three. I’m not looking forward to the heat but I am looking forward to seeing a very special person who lives there and also looking forward to the food.

You all look wonderful in your outfits. Elizabeth must have been absolutely thrilled about the wig. The guest probably wasn’t as thrilled about Daniel’s vomit but you can’t win ’em all. Best wishes for 2014 and I hope your dream of living in the UK comes true — if not in 2014, as soon as possible after that. ๐Ÿ™‚

The guest took it (the vomit) very well. She’s a nurse so perhaps more understanding than most.

Isn’t it amazing how much a wig can change a person. Looks like a good party was had by all. A happy New Year to you. I sympathise wholeheartedly with your reluctance to leave UK.

Happy New Year to you too, Lorraine. I think Elizabeth looks great as a red head. Two of my sisters have red hair so we must have it in our genes.

The measure of a party is presence of vomit, so one must assume an unmitigated success. Loved the costumes, that wig was awesome.

Happy New Year to you all.

Exactly! A party is not a real party unless someone vomits.

Never a dull moment for you.
Amazing what a costume will do for one. It can make you act entirely different.
I remember when I was about 14 a friend and I dressed up like Tweedle Dee and Dum for a Halloween party. Actually we didn’t look anything like them. Just stuffed some pillows into our gym outfits. But we were the life of the party……I think.

I agree and that’s why costumes are so great. It’s fun to pretend to be someone else for a change and much easier in costume.

I think what you have there is a budding Queen Elizabethe III . I wonder if Charles knows that he will be usurped.

Two questions. Why are there lazer beams coming out of each side of your nose and the did the picture taker survive the attack.? Then again I might be to nervous to know the answer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy New Year to all. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, Sherri. I think Elizabeth won the prize for best costume which is appropriate given that it was her birthday.
