Annoying things and cute things

1. Tents. They *never* go back in the bag. No matter how much you fold and press and squish them in, they never fit back in the bag they came out of. Our tent now occupies two bags.

2. Paint rollers. They are impossible to clean. When washed under the tap, they produce a never-ending stream of paint. There is always more paint. It never stops, no matter how much you wash them.

3. Doona covers. When you wash a doona cover with lots of other things, all the other things always end up inside the doona cover. I couldn’t do that if I tried yet somehow, our washing machine manages it.

What annoys you?

Conversation with Elizabeth:

Ben: What happens to the bath water when it goes down the drain?

Elizabeth: It does a dort.

For those wondering what “dort” means, it’s the Thai word for fart.

Daniel’s class had to write a sentence about what they’d like to be when they grow up. Here’s Daniel’s sentence:

Translation: When I grow up I want to be a toy shop man

I love it when technology at work just won’t work no matter what I do. As soon as I ring the helpdesk, problems resolve magically and I feel like a fraud.
Elizabeth’s right about the ‘dort’. Where did that word come from? Is it Elizabeth’s version of ‘fart’? Agree with Daniel that a toy shop man is a pretty exciting career choice. Wonder what will be next.

Dort is Thai for fart. I’ve used it since I was a kid and now my kids use it. I think it represents a fart better than any other word. They even sound a bit like dort.

Thanks for the link! That was a great read. I’ll tell Daniel about him.
