Elizabeth had the very great privilege of performing in the Beyond Broadway Experience (BBEXP) production of Bring It On in Aberdeen this weekend with three performances at His Majesty’s Theatre over two days. She performed in Cats with the same company last summer and loved it then but this year was much better as she got a solo singing part.
She auditioned for principal roles earlier in the year as she had for Cats but wasn’t expecting to land anything – the talent is so extraordinarily high that she was just happy to be in it. However, when rehearsals began she found out they were looking for two soloists to sing “Legendary”, the song featured in Truman High’s National competition routine. She auditioned and became Legendary Singer 1. She was so absolutely delighted and had a smile permanently etched on her face for the next 10 days.
We went to see the show twice: last night and for today’s matinee. It was excellent: such a fun, uplifting and even funny production with amazing talent from so many young people. The singing, dancing and acting were all extraordinary. I’m sure some of those principals will go on to make big names for themselves one day. As a parent there’s nothing more delightful than watching your child perform on stage and clearly loving every minute of it. And she sang superbly! I don’t know how she does it or where she gets that voice–she just took her grade 8 classical singing exam and got a distinction too!
Next year they’re doing The Addams Family musical and we can’t wait.
