Me doing a leap but my head is cut off

My second highland dance exam

I did my silver highland dance exam today. This is something most students do at age 9 or 10 so I’m only slightly over the hill.

I dance with the Pam Dignan dance school and I think it’s wonderful that Pam gives everyone, young and old, the opportunity to dance, perform and sit exams. I’ve been learning with her for just over a year now and have learnt so much.

There’s no requirement to sit exams but they challenge you and make you work harder. I’ve upped my game for this exam and it has improved my dancing. Plus you get some recognition for hard work in the form of a certificate – and never underestimate the significance of a certificate.

I danced the Fling, the Swords and the first two steps of the Seann Triubhas. Thankfully I was able to fit into Elizabeth’s outfit.

I think that fitting into Elizabeth’s costumes is also a noteworthy achievement :_)

That looks a difficult jump. When you watch children do dance exams, they’re usually getting to a pretty good standard, even at 9 or 10, regarding strength and co-ordination, so that’s a good thing to achieve.
