Rachel wearing cable jumper

My first cable jumper

I just finished knitting my first cable jumper. I’d never knitted with cables before but I’m always up for a new challenge and it turned out to be easier than I was expecting. It still took me ages because I ran out of yarn at one point and was also knitting several other things at the same time. I’m happy with the overall result although it’s too hot now to wear it. It’s a very heavy, warm jumper.

I followed a pattern from the Shetland Tweed book by Sarah Hatton.

That suits you very well. I don’t think cables suit everyone, but I acknowledge the functionality of warmth from them.

Aww thank you. I think the cables do make it warmer.

When I saw the title of the post, I was envisaging something with maybe a panel running down the front, not actually the whole thing made out of cable as a first project. I bet it’s warm! And no wonder you ran out of wool too. The cables are so even!

I didn’t realise how much warmer and heavier cables would make it but it makes sense. I do like the texture they give so I’ll definitely make another at some point.
