I papered the bedroom

I finally papered the bedroom today. You might remember a couple of months ago we had to replace the wall in our bedroom. I painted over the new wall but it was always my intention to wallpaper it. The beige wall looks ok but I’m not a beige person and it was starting to irritate me. Here’s the photo I took of it back in October.

The bedroom with a plain white wall behind the bed.

Here is it today, freshly papered and a huge improvement in my opinion.

The bedroom with a sage green wallpaper behind the bet that has foliage and British animals - foxes, squirrels, birds.

I’m so happy with the result. It’s much warmer and gives the room character and charm. But it was a nightmare job and there was much swearing. I used wallpaper from Vonage Maison as I’ve long admired their designs but I was a bit nervous because they have an overlap that requires cutting the strips vertically. Their sheets are also really wide and oh my goodness it was not easy for an amateur. I couldn’t physically carry the paper very well as the sheets are so enormous. Their wallpaper is the best quality wallpaper I’ve every worked with but I don’t think I want to do that again in a hurry. Here’s one of the sheets on the bed to show how wide they are and also the white strips on either side that you have to cut off. It’s meant to help create a seamless join but I really didn’t master that.

A wide sheets of wallpaper on the bed.

Nevertheless I really love it. It’s a beautiful design and I chose well.

Beautiful choice and papering skills. In particular, the light thrown out by the lamps looks so much warmer against the paper. I can’t even imagine completing such a challenging job.

That wallpaper does give the room much more ambiance. Well worth the effort, imo.
