How beautiful is this scene?

The view is looking down towards the village of Braemar from Craig Choinnich. We do this walk quite a lot because you get such great rewards with little effort. It’s only about 25 minutes up the hill from the village and you get magnificent views in all directions.

The first part of the walk is through forest which is equally lovely and I’ve always thought a good walk in the forest is essential for optimal health. We saw a toad on the path. He was so well camouflaged we didn’t see him until he leapt.

it’s nice to see vegetation returning to what was once barren hills. Nature and wildlife is so depleted in the UK but there are people trying to reverse the trend and return trees to the landscape.

We saw an interesting car outside the Fife Arms.

The Fife Arms is looking as majestic as ever in its autumn colours.

This weekend was the literary festival in Braemar and we went to see Anthony Horowitz. I am more familiar with his TV series than his books and we are huge fans of Foyle’s War which is absolutely brilliant. Indeed Ben and I loved the series so much we recently started watching it again. We also recently watched Magpie Murders which is another of his and also good.

He was very entertaining to listen too. He’s animated, very chatty, and clearly loves writing books. It was a delight to listen to someone so passionate about their craft and someone who is so obviously good at it. I recently finished his James Bond, Forever and a Day, and it was excellent. I felt it was true to Ian Fleming’s style only better. I plan to read the other two in James Bond series now.

Sometimes authors are electrifying in real life, they are so articulate. Glad you had a good talk, and thank you for the photos showing vegetation coming back.
