We had a lovely picnic at Castle Fraser today for a friend’s birthday. The walled garden at the castle is one of the best I’ve seen so we had a lovely wander around the estate and gardens before eating lunch then playing badminton under towering shady trees.

What is it about castle grounds that is so intriguing? Perhaps it’s partly the grandeur that’s so captivating – although the gardens themselves are very splendid, too 🙂 What’s with wearing the cardy? I thought you guys were having a heatwave?
We’re not having a heat wave here. It never gets really hot in Aberdeen. On Tuesday when London is preparing for 40C we’ve only got 21C forecast. Last weekend when it was really hot just inland of here it was only 18C in Aberdeen.
Those gardens look nice. Sometimes they start to look a bit seedy towards the end of July. It must be a lot of maintenance .
It would be a huge job and require a team of people to maintain the gardens I’m sure.
