There’s a lovely loch in Aboyne that I didn’t know existed until recently. It’s only small so good if you just want a quick walk through forest. It’s called Birsemore Loch and it’s special not just for the beautiful scenery but because you can walk past the Queen’s Hut which is a log cabin built by King George V for Queen Mary in the early 1900s.
You can just see the cabin in the centre of this next photo on the far side of the loch.

Here is it again but from the back.

It’s in a lovely spot right on the loch, nestled in a mature forest. You can even stay here as it’s listed on Airbnb. Don’t let the rugged exterior fool you. The interior looks very luxurious.
A circuit of the loch doesn’t take long – maybe 20 minutes? It’s flat, the path is reasonably good, and there are scenic views from all sides.

It looks like it could be a good swimming spot too! We’ll definitely go back.
That looks amazing. I love exploring new places.
Yes, me too! It is gorgeous there.
Wow, these pictures are absolutely gorgeous. Now I am looking forward to the next walk in the woods!
Thanks!
