A flash talk about cycling

Here’s my flash talk from the Automattic Grand Meetup in October. I thought I’d putย it on my blog as a way to share my love of cycling with more people. We all had to give a flash talk and we could talk about whatever we wanted for 4 minutes at most. I was rather nervous and stumbled over a few words in the beginning ๐Ÿ™‚

What a wonderful post! I love your accent. It caught me off guard. I’m so used to reading your posts, not listening to you speak, or seeing your facial expressions. Your talk was enlightening, entertaining, and personal. Nicely done.

Thank you. I used to really dislike the Australian accent a lot but now that I’ve got older I quite like it again.

We have a lot of Australians visit this part of the world, particularly the ski resorts this time of year. I have always liked the accent but must admit get confused from time to time. English? New Zealand? Australian? It’s intriguing, sophisticated, and provocative all at the same time. Be careful not to lose it.

I don’t think I’ll lose my accent. It has been a long time since I lived in Australia and it hasn’t diminished in that tie.

You have come a long way as a speaker! I heard you speaking at WordCamp Auckland last year.

    Informative and humorous talk.

I must have been pretty bad in Auckland. I’m glad that didn’t get filmed ๐Ÿ™‚

Great talk and well illustrated. I can’t imagine your ever parting with the beloved Busby. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you! I have thought about upgrading Busby and I might yet do that but I don’t think we’ll get rid of him. We’ll keep him as a spare.

Good talk, I wonder if it became food for thought for some of the participants? Interesting how you can time a talk beforehand and then that time contracts mysteriously!
