“Daddy can’t do anything”

My family was pleased to see me when I arrived back home from Barcelona, but they weren’t ecstatic or anything and they seemed to have managed just fine without me. In fact, I was disappointed to see that Ben wasn’t looking more dishevelled and stressed out after almost a week as a single parent. And I think the kids were more interested in seeing what presents I brought back for them than me. But theyย appear to have been fed and bathed while I was away, although Elizabeth’s hair wasn’t brushed all week (I can’t really blame Ben for that as I took the hair brush).

Today when I was collecting the kids from school, Elizabeth said to me, “Mummy, you put one of my gloves and one of Daniel’s gloves in my bag!” I replied, “I didn’t do that, Daddy did that”. She laughed and said, “Daddy can’t do anything. He’s a grown adult and he can’t do anything”. Ah, perhaps I am needed after all ๐Ÿ™‚

It was nice to go out on Busby again. We went to a children’s birthday party yesterday and the kids got a huge balloon each which only just fit in the bike:

Happy to see you happy to return to your kids.

I am sure your are also happy to be riding the “SUV of bikes” (you know where I read this SUV reference from :))

Haha, I think I can guess! If it’s where I think it is I only just wrote that ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad you got back to find your kids were fine ๐Ÿ™‚ And I’m sure they really did miss you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, they were all absolutely fine which will make it easier for me next time I go away.

Elizabeth’s comment is hilarious. I love that she went for a week without having her hair brushed. Perhaps you can train her to do this in time for your next trip. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ben is obviously a man of many parts and capabilities. It’s good to know that you can go away for work and know the kids will still be alive and cared for when you return. A great result!!

Oh she regularly goes for days without having her hair brushed and she was very happy that I took the hair brush ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, the next time I go away will be even easier and after that, easier again. It’s good to know they’re all fine in my absence.

By the way, I wonder if those balloons would function as air bags if you hit something. Not really a nice thought. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Haha, I’m not sure that they’d work so well as air bags. Balloons tend to be quite fragile and pop easily.

Haha…love the things kids say. Great photo ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, Sherri. I should take more photos of my bike.

No, I’m not keen to get a car. I’m enjoying not having to pay to maintain one and not having a car keeps me fit. I’d be lazy and start driving everywhere if we had a car.

I know, but they’re starting to look squeezed in there. You know this isn’t going to last long.

When they get too big for it they can ride their own bikes. I have taken adults in there you know. In any case Aberdeen is small and you can walk everywhere so you don’t need a bike or a car.

Well, I don’t know if they read these things but you don’t want them grumbling about not being able to get around do you? When they get big enough to ride their bikes they grow a brain and a mouth too. You know it.
