The 10 album challenge

Inspired by Denise’s post over at Listen Watch Read Share, I thought I’d try to compile my own list of top ten albums. It’s not such an easy task because music preferences change over time, so I’ve tried to select music that I’ve loved for years and that I never tire of. This is certainly true of A Kind of Blue,Β Walking Wounded, and Patience, allΒ of which I’ve listened to over and over and over again for many years now. There are also many other albums I could probably have added but, alas, I am restricted to 10.

1.Β A Kind of Blue – Miles Davis

2.Β Walking Wounded – Everything But The Girl

3. Harvest Moon – Neil Young

4. Patience – George Michael

5.Β Saturday Night Fever- Bee Gees

6.Β Feist – The Reminder

7. When Did You Leave Heaven – Lisa Ekdahl

8. Riot On An Empty Street – Kings of Convenience

9. Beethoven Symphonies No. 5, 6, and 9 – Ludwig van Beethoven

10. Mozart Adagios – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

I’ll leave you with a song from Everything But The Girl:

Absolutely. Stayin’ Alive is the best song ever.

    No Motorhead?

I had to look Motorhead up on YouTube to listen to their music just to check (although the name alone was a clue that I probably wouldn’t like it) and to put it politely, it’s a little on the heavy side for me. I like all kinds of music except for heavy metal which I can’t stand.

Yes, next time I feel like telling someone to fuck off, I’ll try listening to Motorhead and see what happens πŸ™‚

You might end up adding “… and die”.

Nobody’s posted any tunes, so I’ll risk one for the thread.

I loved both EBTG’s early melancholic work and their transformation into dance territory. Their dance music is very atmospheric Coincidentally, I’m also waiting for delivery of Tracy Thorn’s memoir *and* she collaborated with Massive Attack on Protection! (although that is not on Mezzanine, it is one of the songs that first brought MA to my attention.)

    Good list.

Yes, I love EBTG’s early work too and could have easily added some of these albums to my list. I look forward to reading a review of Tracy Thorn’s memoir on your blog!
