Another lovely day yesterday. We took my aunt to the museum, then had lunch in Parnell followed by a drive along Tamaki Drive to Mission Bay.

My aunt is very impressed by the natural beauty of Auckland and was wondering why she doesn’t hear more about it. Auckland is beautiful but it competes with the rest of New Zealand which sets a very high bar. I think the natural beauty of the South Island trumps that of Auckland and so to us Auckland is nice but not spectacular. It just shows how relative it all is. I still think Christchurch was a far nicer place to live than Auckland, and with much more in the way of natural beauty. But then I’m just not a beach person; give me mountains with snow over beach any day.
