It has been unusually hot here. I say unusually because we’ve had almost a week of 20C+ days and typically in Aberdeen we’d only have one or two in a row like that before the temperatures drop below 20 again. Yesterday got up to 25C which was very unpleasant for us. Elizabeth in particularly hates it so we both went for a swim in the Dee to cool which was very refreshing.

Last night we did the open air theatre thing again but this time at Drum Castle which is closer to home than our trip to Fyvie Castle last Friday night. It was The Three Inch Fools performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream
This year the seating arrangement wasn’t as good as in previous years when they cordoned off a bit at the front for picnic rugs. They didn’t do that this year or at Fyvie Castle so if you’re on the ground you’re stuck behind people sitting in chairs. Instead we chose to sit on the side which wasn’t too bad. For some reason the troupe also chose to position the stage in a different spot rather than having the castle behind them. This seemed like a poor decision to me as the cast had the sun in the eyes for much of the first half of the show which must have been unbearable for them.

Despite the seating it was an excellent show with lots of laughs. It has grown in popularity quite a bit since we started going. I think I need to stop blogging about how good it is as I preferred the smaller more intimate shows we’ve seen in previous years.
Today Elizabeth played the violin with SC&T at the Stonehaven Folk Festival.

They were excellent and got loads of cheers and applause from the audience.
I made blackcurrant jam with the blackcurrants I picked from the allotment last week. Blackcurrant is my favourite jam flavour and my home-made version is soo good and not too sweet.

There’s lots of fox news too but perhaps I’ll leave that for tomorrow.
