We took mum to see the seals yesterday as she’d never seen them before and it’s quite a fun outing. There are hundreds of them lounging on the sand at the mouth of the Ythan Estuary in Newburgh which is about 16 miles north along the coast from Aberdeen or a 20 minute car drive.
They’ve built lots of timber platforms and walkways since I last visited which makes it more accessible for people with buggys and wheelchairs. The seals were out in great force along with hundreds of different species of sea birds. It’s a nature-lover’s paradise.

Despite the warm sunny day the wind at the beach made it feel cold so we’re all rugged up. I told them in this next photo to pretend it’s really hot but I didn’t think they look convincing.
