Giant courgettes on the ground next to Busby

Giant courgettes

It was just as well I chose to ride Busby my cargo bike to the allotment today to cope with the weight of my courgette harvest.

I didn’t get to the allotment last weekend so it had been two weeks and many of my courgettes grew into marrows. There are too many for us so we put them out on the street for people to take. I think this is one the biggest I’ve ever picked.

I dug up some spuds too.

Did people take the marrows? I save my jars (mostly big-ish ones from my Raglan coconut yoghurt) and put them out on the kerb when I’ve got a couple of cartons of them, and they don’t take long to get picked up by a passerby in a car.

I’m always grateful when I go to someone’s house and they are giving away marrows. I like to have them chopped in some soup, I find it very refreshing. I’m sure your neighbours will be very pleased with your offers.
    Busby is looking very fine.

Thanks, Denise. There are just two marrows left on the street. We had a soup last night with marrow and other greens like broccoli and kale. It was good.
