When we went to Aviemore we stayed in a pretty cool place so I thought I’d write about it. Our accommodation was Macdui Lodge at Pine Bank Chalets. This was our second visit to Pine Bank Chalets and it won’t be the last. The owners are so nice, the chalets are well-run, and the location is perfect.

Macdui Lodge is a luxurious log cabin that sleeps four – two in a double bedroom on the ground floor and another two in two single futon beds on the mezzanine. It has a huge bathroom with a fantastic shower, two baths, and a sauna. We didn’t use the sauna because it was too hot but I imagine it would be the perfect place to relax after a day in the snow. The lounge/kitchen is open plan and opens onto a deck that overlooks a quiet street and a stream beyond.

The lodge has attractive arched oak beams supporting a very high ceiling. There are two TVs, a log burner, and of course wifi. It’s the sort of place you can really unwind and definitely do not want to leave. The village is barely a 10-minute walk away and just around the corner are the walks on the Rothiemurchus estate.

The two bath tubs are on the mezzanine level and these are really decadent because you can lie back watching the flat-screen TV on the wall opposite and feel like a Queen. The beds were all very comfortable and the place exceptionally clean and well-looked after.

Macdui lodge is pet-friendly, which includes cats, and Victoria loved exploring the new space and drinking out of my water glass when I wasn’t looking.

Pine Bank Chalets have a range of properties for all budgets. There’s also an on-site gym which I used last time we were there and it was great. If you really want the wow factor and budget is no issue then I recommend Cedar Lodge which we admired from the street. The only downside about the chalets is the difficultly booking them. They’re really popular and often fully booked so you really need to plan in advance.
It’s beautiful, no wonder it’s all booked out. I like the description of the amenities and convenience too – it sounds so relaxing. It reminds me of all I liked about Center Parcs, which is obviously more commercial, but a great place for families to unwind.
I’ve never been to Center Parcs but have heard good things about it. Maybe once the pandemic is over we’ll give it a try.
That’s a lovely place! Glad to know you all had a great time there!
Thanks, Chait! It was fab. Just too short.
Looks like Heaven on Earth!
