Science Fair Nightmare

This is a funny youtube video about a climate change contrarian Dad at the school science fair. It’s well worth watching especially if you’ve got some contrarians in your family ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks to the blogger at I’m not yet dead who brought it to my attention and who has an excellent post today called I don’t believe in climate change.

The post is about the Koch-funded climate change study that all climate science contrarians were going to take seriously because this was the only one that could be trusted. Well, it turned out that this study produced the same results as all the others.

The lead scientist, Richard Muller, wrote an op-ed in the New York Times about it called The Conversion of a Climate-Change Skeptic.

Here’s the first paragraph of his op-ed:

CALL me a converted skeptic. Three years ago I identified problems in previous climate studies that, in my mind, threw doubt on the very existence of global warming. Last year, following an intensive research effort involving a dozen scientists, I concluded that global warming was real and that the prior estimates of the rate of warming were correct. Iโ€™m now going a step further: Humans are almost entirely the cause.

People will deny climate change until they fall victims to its effects.

And you understand that better than most I think, Belsbror.

Loved the video Rachel, very funny and brought back many memories of all those science fairs… ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, Sherri. My kids are still too little for the science fair but I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks for the entertaining post, Rachel. What a shame that climate change denial is a multi-trillion dollar business. Can’t work out why so many people who don’t stand to benefit are so keen to jump on a bandwagon that promotes the guzzling of non-renewable resources and the pollution that goes with it. Even if it didn’t contribute to climate change, where’s the value in environmental vandalism and pollution? Better get off my soapbox now.

The weirdest little picture has appeared against my name. Don’t know how it got there but it’s quite cute. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, Bronwyn. I do agree that the contrarian position is very strange. I don’t understand it either.

The picture by your name is because I changed the settings in my blog to generate an avatar for people who don’t have one.

You’re clever. I’m quite fond of mine.

It does look quite cute, I agree. But it didn’t require any cleverness to generate. I only had to click select in one of the settings.
