Freud has perked up again. He’s a bit of yoyo. One day I think, this is it, he’s going to die, then the next day he recovers and continues onward. He’s not 100% but he has started eating again. The Vet gave me some acid-reducing medication as kidney disease can cause ulcers and gastric bleeding, so now I’m thinking this is what happened to him last week. Then when he didn’t eat anything he became severely dehydrated.
Yesterday we took him and the kids to the beach at Devonport. It was lovely.
Last week Ben parked our car on the street across the road from our house. I had friends here for lunch and he didn’t want to park anyone in. Later that day I moved our car and found this note under the windscreen wiper (it got a little rain-wet):
Rowena’s friends evidently find it difficult to walk just a couple of metres to her front fence. New Zealand won’t have any trouble maintaining its status as the third fattest nation on earth with this attitude and the car culture here.
My aunt from Sydney is visiting us next weekend and she had this idea that she’d like to walk from the CBD to our house, which is apparently only 8km. This is not possible because pedestrians and cyclists are not allowed on the Harbour bridge, so my aunt would have to swim across the Harbour. Requiring someone to have an automobile in order to use the bridge is surely discriminatory.
