The dog and the children

Freud is looking really well again and is pretty much back to his old self of chasing cats and barking at strange men. He’s to have another blood test tomorrow so we’ll have a clearer picture then of how much the bacterial infection was to blame for his renal failure. Meanwhile Daniel has an ear infection. He announced last night after dinner that his ear was sore. Ben took him to the doctor and now he’s also on antibiotics. Fortunately Daniel’s medicine is liquid while Freud’s is in tablet form, otherwise I might get the two mixed up.

Elizabeth loves, loves, loves stories and there just isn’t always time to sit and read to her so the other day I had a brainwave: one child wants a story and the other is learning to read. I asked Daniel whether he’d read to Elizabeth and it worked! For a little while.

Good to hear that Freud is back to his old tricks. Things can only get better with Daniel and his reading although it sounds as though you might have to fill in for a while. Why don't you do what grandpa did and record the stories and play them back at bedtime? It worked a treat for us:) It's lovely when kids enjoy being read to (provided you have the time). Love, B (PS: Not sure if you've heard of the US comedian, Louis CK. He's brilliant and on youtube. He describes kids as buckets of disease.)

Will definitely try out the recording of stories. I could record video stories for them…thanks for the tip!
