School holidays

The school holidays have begun and I’m not sure how Daniel will cope without school for two weeks. Last week, when I was planning our trip to the Coromandel, I thought it might be nice to leave a little earlier and discussed with Daniel the possibility of collecting him before 3pm. He was horrified by this suggestion and was not prepared to miss out on any school, not even an hour of it!

In the afternoons after school, Daniel draws hearts and cuts them out to give to his Korean girlfriends the next day. His teacher told me that at lunch-time recently, she saw him standing with his arms out at either side saying, “c’mon girls, tickle me!”. At which point the three Korean girls tickle him and Daniel roars with laughter.

Freud has become more vocal since Zeki’s death. I can often hear him howling as I walk up the street from Daniel’s school. It made me wonder whether he howls the entire time we’re out or whether he just somehow knows when we’re nearing home. I took a closer look at our house the next time I was walking up the driveway and there was Freud, peering out from the upstairs window and sitting on a bed in order to do it.

Can you spot Freud? He’s in the upstairs round window, bottom right.

I didn't know Zeki had died. That's sad Rachel! The school holidays filled me with dread too. Max is happy to have time off school but he very quickly becomes bored. It was a hard week last week. Hopefully this week will be better. Jodi x
