We are officially homeless and it feels great. Except of course that we have a roof over our heads and beds to sleep in. We left our Point Chevalier rental yesterday after a hectic day of packing and cleaning which was not easy with two children. I made the mistake of cleaning the bathroom early on only to investigate it later in the day and discovered the shower filled with dirt thanks to Elizabeth!
We somehow managed to accumulate way too much in the short time we were there and it all had to fit in our car for the drive up to Leigh. This meant cramming the entire contents of our fridge and pantry in the car along with everything else including two dogs. The dogs had less space than a battery hen and I only just managed to squeeze in by holding my breath and pulling a yoga pose. But we did it and I only had to hold my breath for the short hour it took to get to Leigh.
Leigh is beautiful. It is by the sea with magnificent views everywhere, even our bach has a view. It is heavily forested and very green. There’s so much to do with a reptile park, snorkeling, glass-bottomed boat trips around Goat Island, the Morris & James pottery gallery, Matakana Country Park, vineyard tours, Matakana markets, the sheep and wool centre and the Brick Bay sculpture trail to name a few. We clearly can’t do everything so we may just have to return at some stage.
