I am still in Auckland with the kids and Ben is flying back to Christchurch as I type. I feel very sad about it all and really want us to all stay together but I’m so terrified in Christchurch all the time. I’m forcing us all to sleep in a caravan for goodness sake! In Auckland I feel quite normal again and I like it. I’m not afraid to go into Heritage buildings or to walk along the pavement beneath towering masonry or to enter the basement of an old church. It’s surprising and reassuring how quickly trauma disappears and things return to normal.
We received an offer for our house in Christchurch yesterday. It’s a little lower than we were hoping for but we’ll try to negotiate with the purchaser over the coming days. We’re very pleased to have found a buyer in this uncertain time.
