I take the kids to dance classes every Wednesday and they both love it as do I. But the building we’re in has a crack through the brick-work:
It is single storey with a steel roof and steel beams. Should I be worried?
The earthquake has changed my whole outlook. Prior to September 4th 2010, I’d have chosen dance classes on the basis of price and time as well as the classes themselves. Now it’s really just what sort of structure are they held in. Is it single storey? Brick? What sort of roof?
I met a woman yesterday who told me that whenever we get a sizeable aftershock through the night, like the one on Tuesday, she leaps out of bed and frantically changes into regular clothes.
There was a photo in the paper this week of a home-made sign someone put up on the street outside their house. It read: drive slowly, kids scared, house shakes. Sometimes when trucks go past our house the house shakes so I totally sympathise with them. Certainly the noise is not unlike that of an earthquake.
