Who appears in Christmas parades in Aberdeen?

Santa in a kilt with a Storm Trooper, of course. Who else?

It was the Turning on the Lights Christmas parade in Aberdeen last Sunday. There was a parade;ย they marched; lights went on. It was really good! I think everyone in Aberdeen was there as Union Street was packed.

IMG_7756Christmas always feels more Christmassy in the Northern Hemisphere. Christmas lights look much in the dark. And mulled wine and roast dinners (nutroast of course) taste better when it’s cold. I thinkย New Zealanders should celebrate Christmas in July.

I’ve changed themes on my blog again. WordPress.com have a Black Friday special this weekend where if you upgrade to Premium, you get unlimited Premium themes for a year for free. So now I have another excuse to change themes: I want to test out all the Premium themes. I hope I don’t drive youย nuts.

I expect the kilt gets drafty on a sleigh. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh yes, of course. I forgot Santa was probably wearing no undies ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes!! Christmas in the northern hemisphere is lovely. As is Bonfire.

I loved choosing my WP theme – have fun! You are so lucky working for WP.

I am so lucky Denise and I know it! I might have to try your theme out one day too.

I recognize that stretch from my business trip to Aberdeen. The pretty churches/pubs are behind you, and I think also that ‘mall’ that goes down the hillside.

I wound up looking downtown for a Tam because my wife wanted one. I got a lot of sneers, and finally someone said to me, “A tamoshan? We haven’t worn those for hundreds of years. You might try a costume shop.”

Its -20C and Icy here. How are you finding the weather up there? A lot of people complain that its dreary and grey, but personally I’m used to that from the West Coast of Canada. I found the summer there pleasant enough.

The thing I like most about winter is hot chocolate.

When I was there I went to Tolquhon Castle which was nice since it was the first castle I’d ever seen.

I’m loving it here, OilMan. I don’t find it dreary and grey at all. On the contrary, I like the muted lighting. I don’t need sunscreen or sunglasses and I prefer that. I’ve never liked bright sunny days in the Southern Hemisphere very much but up here they’re quite nice because the sun isn’t as fierce.

It’s also not very cold yet. It’s around 10C degrees still and quite warm. I’m hoping for some snow though and preferably before Christmas would be nice.

I haven’t seen any Tam o’ Shanter hats but will let you know if I spot one.

we had our christmas lights switch on last night too – slightly smaller scale than aberdeen but half the town was there- it’s great to get everyone out and sharing something like this

Yes, I agree. It’s so nice to have such a good turnout because even though the crowd makes it hard to see, they add to the atmosphere. It was great.

Looks Aberdeen Santa Parade was in the night?

We just had our Santa Parade in Auckland this noon. Queen St was packed. Kids were excited. I was excited that Auckland Transport provided free public transport.

I thought you customized your blog heavily but then realized you changed the theme altogether. I am not buying the Premium plan but thinking of buying two custom design upgrades, one for my main blog and the other for test blog to help our users in the CSS Forums ๐Ÿ™‚
