Recipe for Lebkuchen

This is a reblog of an old post of mine. It’s a recipe for lebkuchen which is a very delicious German treat eaten over the Christmas season. I usually make it every year but this year I’ve adopted the British tradition of baking mince pies instead. But this is recipe that must be shared. So here ’tis.

Lebkuchen is a delicious German Christmas treat. The English translation is gingerbread but it doesn’t actually contain any ginger. I got this excellent recipe for lebkuchen a few years ago from a German friend and have been making it every Christmas ever since.

See the recipe.

  1. This looks delicious! I might even make some which says a lot. I’m being so lazy at the moment. Have a lovely Christmas day with Daniel, Elizabeth and Ben!

  2. πŸ™‚ The lebkuchen looks so so delicious and I happily clicked on the recipe. Then became confused.
I know what 2-3 eggs are.
😦 But it’s about the “g” amount for the ingredients and the “C” temperature for the oven that I will never understand.

Guess for Christmas I’ll be making the same old chocolate cake with nuts and fudge and chocolate bits and thick rich chocolaty frosting. lol

  3. This is one of my very favourite Christmas/winter treats. And I am finally getting a proper oven that gets hot and you can control the temperature!! next week so this is going to be one of the first things I make.
