I need…

Elizabeth has discovered the word “need”, as in “I need an Easter Egg”.  Today she reached her hand into the pocket of Ben’s trousers (where he keeps his wallet) and said, “I need wallet”. We weren’t expecting this to happen for at least another twelve years.  Be afraid, be very afraid.

Ben took Daniel to the movies today. It’s the first time Daniel has ever been to the cinema. They went to the complex at Takapuna which Ben described as unimpressive. If Ben thought it was unimpressive then it must have been dreadful. They were directed to Cinema 4 where they were the only two patrons in the whole room. Daniel asked Ben, “Is it called Cinema 4 because only 4 people watch the film?”. It was probably just as well they had the room to themselves because Daniel asked questions in a very loud voice throughout. It has been a very long time since any of us went to the movies, and talk about a rip-off – it was more than $26 for one adult and one child! Elizabeth won’t find anything in his wallet now.

This afternoon I went skiing at Snowplanet. It was glorious. Skiing must be good exercise because I always have sore muscles for a day or two after a trip to Snowplanet. One of the great advantages of winter sports is that you get exercise without getting hot and sweaty. And if you do get hot, it’s easily managed by the removal of one or more layers. With the exception of swimming, there’s really no hot weather alternative.
